FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 24 in 24: A Day in the Life of the Region / Photo Competition and Exhibition
South Shore Centre for the Arts, 665 S. Lake Street, in Miller, is sponsoring its 2nd annual photo competition and exhibition open to all photographers from amateur to professional. The clock is ticking as all photographers are invited to capture 24 in 24: A Day in the Life of The Region, shooting 24 images (or more) that capture the spirit of the people, places, or events of the Northwest Indiana region within a 24-hour period. This will be a juried competition with cash prizes for first, second and third place entries.
Interested photographers are invited to the kickoff event at South Shore Centre for the Arts on Saturday, October 16, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (rain date 10/17) to register, meet the other photographers, share ideas and experiences, and begin their 24-hour creative journey.
For those who want to capture the Region in pictures, but are not interested in entering the official competition, the entire Northwest Indiana community is invited to participate in the 24-hour photo shoot. Just submit a snapshot by November 2 (not more than 4 x 6 inches) of your favorite photo from the Region, include your name, address, phone, and email, and they’ll be displayed at the Centre or at participating Lake Street businesses for all the world to see. Exhibit viewers can vote for their favorite photo from this non-juried category and the Centre will announce the top three vote-getters at the end of the public exhibition.
There will also be an exhibition opening reception, awards ceremony, and fundraiser performance by the South Shore Dance Alliance at the Centre on Sunday, November 14, at 2 p.m. where the photo competition winners will be announced. Exhibit photos will be available for sale.
Proceeds from the competition, sale, and fundraiser will benefit the South Shore Dance Alliance, a 501c3 pre-professional dance company and dance studio, and flagship occupant of South Shore Centre for the Arts.
The photo exhibition will open to the general public, free of charge, at the Centre beginning Monday, November 15 and run through Saturday, December 11.
Complete information, entry forms, and competition details can be found at the South Shore Centre for the Arts website, www.southshorecentre.org , email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the Centre at 219-427-0188.
