Studio 659 in Whiting wants Day of the Dead art! We are looking for art that glorifies this traditional Mexican holiday. Whether it’s decorated sugar skulls, skeletons at work or a memorial altar…we want it. The show opens on September 30 and runs through October 29.
Artists are invited to submit up to 3 JPG images to: dayofdeadsubmissions659@hotmail.com. 2-D and 3-D submissions in all media and styles welcomed. Please include an image list in your email with title, media, size, year completed, and price. Also please denote any special installation needs in your email. There is no entry fee. The Studio retains a 20% commission, please factor this into your retail pricing. An artist reception will be held on Friday, September 30 and all regional artists are strongly encouraged to attend. The gallery reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork upon delivery if the condition or quality is other than represented in the submission. Two of the council members from the Whiting Arts Council will be curating this exhibit. The WAC oversees all the events and shows at Studio 659, but the curatorial duties change from one show to the next. The deadline for this show has been extended to September 5, so you still have time to enter if you haven’t already done so.
